Bible map of the Holy Land showing the journey of the children of Israel through Egypt and Canaan. A numbered path with 41 stops is shown through the desert. Map is centrally placed and surrounded by 15 vignettes illustrating scenes from the Bible books Exodus, Deuteronomy and Numbers. Includes compass rose, 2 scale bars in decorative cartouche, 2 key diagrams in a circle and a square of the 12 tribes indicating the location of the Israelites when they were travelling. The second map of the series of six biblical maps, first published in the so-called "Plancius Bible" in Amsterdam by Laurens Jacobszon in 1590. Latitude coordinates are given on map, longitude coordinates are derived from modern map of the area. Dutch text on both sides of verso. In Latin. Parallel title and text on verso in Dutch.
