- Description:
- A stipple-etched celestial sphere alongside a north polar projection of the world, extended to include almost the whole world with the southern most parts of Africa and America outside the neatline. California shown as a labeled island with an indented northern coast. Course of the Mississippi is shown. Includes a dedication to John [Tillotson], Archbishop of Canterbury on terrestrial sphere in banner under crest. Surrounded by biblical scenes including vignettes of the Creation, the Garden of Eden, the Deluge, Moses, the Crucifixion and angels observing the Holy City. Printer statement has city name at end on map. According to Shirley this is a later state of the Moxon family map of ca. 1691.
