- Description:
- Par P. DvVal Geographe du Roy. Relief shown pictorially. California shown as an island with indented northern coastline, labeled I. Californie, and with no place names. D. d'Anien to its north. Great Lakes are open-ended. Designed for a terrestrial globe 16 cm. in diameter, 44 cm. in equatorial circumference. Culotte drawn as 2 circles, one is equatorial, with signs of zodiac, months, longitude markings, and compass directions; the other is meridianal, with Climats and Degrez d'Elevation du Poles. Decorative title cartouche of leaves and flowers (below Africa). Gores are geographically identical to his 1666 map entitled: Planisphere, ou Carte Generale du Monde. Unidentified watermark on both northern and southern hemisphere.
