Engraved title page, head and tail-pieces throughout. "Cum gratia & privilegio sac Cæs. Maies fat." on title page. Introductory text; extensive statistical information; descriptive text on maps and on versos. Decorative borders and cartouches. Maps show topography, vegetation, waterways, ports, routes (e.g. Map 26). Illustrations of figures (e.g. Map 10), flora and fauna (e.g. Map 16), ships, sea monsters. Map 1 appears on title page. Map 2 has winds surrounding globe. Map titles appear at top, in abbreviated form; in full on versos (as indicated in square brackets below).
