projettée et assujettie au ciel par Mr. Bonne. California shown as an island with a rounded northern coast. Depicts small islands between California and the North American continent. Prime meridian [Ferro]. Relief shown pictorially. Title cartouche (lower left) with floral motif. Upper left and right corners: "XXXVI" and "C32" Lower left corner, inside neatline: "Arrivet, inv. & sculp." Inside cartouche: "A PARIS Chez Laltre, rue St. Jaques, a la Tille de Bordeaux. avec. Privd." A known forgery. There is evidence of a change in the plate in order to create California as an island. The map maker R. Bonne (1727-1794) lived later than the date on the map.
