California as very large island on second Sanson model, with Terra de Iesso vel Ieço and Mare de Iesso to northwest. Based on Sanson-Jaillot map of 1674 entitled "AMERIQUE SEPTENTRIONALE diviseé en ses principales parties ou sont distingués les vns des autres LES ESTATS suivant...", but all text is now in Latin. An English edition was issued in 1680 by William Berry. Multiple scales given within cartouche (lower left). Added title at map top: "AMERICA SEPTENTRIONALIS DIVISA INSUAS PRINCIPALES PARTES TERRAM NEMPE ARTICAM, CANADAM SEU NOVAM FRANCIAM, MEXICO SEU NOVAM HISPANIAM; NOVAM MEXICO, INSULAS DE TERRA NOVA DE CALIFORNIA ET ANTILLAS UT EN IN DOMINATUS REGIS GALLIÆ, CASTILLÆ, ANGLIÆ, SUECIÆ, DANIÆ ET BATAVORUM.
