Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. Coordinates approximate and based on Greenwich meridian. Compass rose. Bar scale on map given in "Leguas Spanish." Includes Table of distances. Shows topography, vegetation, ranchos, missions, mining districts, land ownership, and anchorages in the San Francisco Bay. San Francisco called "Yerba Buena or San Francisco." "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1848 by J.H. Bufford & Co. in the Clerks office for the District Court of Massachusetts." Collector's note: This map is regarded as the first published map to show or designiate the gold region. Place names in Spanish.
