- D'O. Dapper, D. M. French edition; originally published in Flemish. Relief shown pictorially. Latitudinal and longitudinal lines on maps. Includes indexes. Leather binding. First 6 and last 4 pages blank (included in page description). Engraved frontispiece, title page, head and tail-pieces throughout. "Traduite du Flamand" from title page. Illustrations include indigenous figures (involved in boat-building, food preparation, torture), plants, animals. Introductory text. Descriptive text accompanies maps; descriptive text on some maps. Decorative cartouches (e.g. cherubs, mythical figures), compass roses, rhumb lines, bar scales, indexes, coats of arms. Maps show topography, vegetation, waterways, shoals, ports, routes. Illustrations of topography, settlements, figures, flora, fauna, ships, sea creatures. Maps 3, 4, 15, 16, 27, 33, 40 are bird's eye views; Maps 5, 6, 9-14, 17, 18, 21-25, 29, 30, 31, 35, 36, 38 are views. Map 2 locates Egyptian pyramids geographically; Map 6 illustrates pyramids. Map 5 depicts pilgrimage to Mecca. Maps 35 and 39 feature ships in battle. Dutch title translations on some maps; Latin titles on some maps.
