Includes legend and two tables: Names of the counties and county towns in the United States -- Table of distances. Routes by Water. Inland Routes. Shows topography, drainage, cities and towns, railroads, roads, canals, land routes (e.g.: Oregon T., including "stopping places on route to Oregon"), and ocean routes (e.g.: U.S. Exploring Expedition 1841). Features Native American territories. Illustrations of ships. Floral border. Descriptive text throughout, e.g.: Believed by Mr. Leroux to be an open prairie and a good route, if water can be had. "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1850 by Jacob Monk in the Clerks Office of the District of Maryland." Collector's note: The central part of California is colored yellow to represent the gold region. There is possibly an 1850 edition; and editions for the years 1851, 1852, 1853 (in at least two states), 1854 (in at leasst two states), 1856, 1857,1858.
