Description:

Pierre vander Aa. Relief shown pictorially. California shown as a labeled island with two deeply indented bays to the north. Large bays are shown along the western side of the island with many place names. The five Great Lakes are shown completed, and the Lake of the West is north of Agubela de Gato. Shows post-Tasman Nova Hollandia, and Terra des Papous as an island. "Selon les nouvelles observations de Mess.rs de l'Academie des Sciences, etc., A Leide, chez Pierre vander Aa. Avec privilege." Latin title banner at top, French title on pedestal cartouche at center bottom. Issued in his Le Nouveau theatre du monde, out la geographic royale, 1713.
