California as an island with indented northern coastline. Map left border cuts into California’s western coastline. Place names include C. d’Estiere, Nouvelle Albion, I. de Crintas, and C de S Lucas. Peninsula on mainland to north with its point labeled Conibas. Pictorial trees on mid-continent. Great Lakes are open-ended to west. Similar to Sanson’s earlier maps of the same title with engraving by D’Winter, Peyrounin, and Piscart, some with California’s northern coastline flat and some indented. Title cartouche of scrollwork, same as maps engraved by Peyrounin and D’Winter.
