- this survey was made in the years 1864-1865 by Captain W. Wilson, R.E. and a party of royal engineers from the Ordance Survey, under the direction of Colonel Sir Henry James ; engraved at the Ordnance Survey office Southampton under the direction of Colonel J. Cameron. Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. Coordinates approximate and based on Greenwich meridian. Multiple "modern" and "ancient" bar scales on map given in "Yards", "Feet", "Chains", "Furlongs", "Miles", "Kilometres", "Metres", "Toises", "Sashines", "Wersts", "Steps", "Stadiums", "Paces", "Stadias", "Cubits", and "Royal or sacred cubits, also named cubits of the tabernacle". Shows topography, drainage, travel routes, places of historical interest. Coat of arms, with illustrations of lions and a unicorn, at head of title. Names of the royal engineers employed on the survey of Jerusalem: Charles W. Wilson, James McDonald, Francis Ferris, John McKeith, John Davison, Thomas Wishart.
