Great lakes shown open to the west. Includes partial outline of New Zealand. At top between hemispheres 2 cherubs hold banner, seated on sea creatures, and supporting the arms of France. At bottom a decorative cartouche with two mermen. Title at top with date 1696. In cartouche - "Presenté a monseigneur le Dauphin, par son tres-humble, tres-obeissant, et tres-fidele serviteur, Hubert Jaillot...1696." Multiple plates and states exist. Plate IV, State 2.
