Vellum binding. First 2 and last 2 pages blank (included in page description). Engraved title page with woodcut border ("Oliverius Gattus inu & fe."), head and tail-piecies throughout. "Cum privilegio" on title page; dedications on maps. Introductory text. Descriptive text on some maps, in secondary cartouches. Decorative banners and cartouches (including cherubs, flora and fauna), bar scales, compass roses. Maps show topography, vegetation (including crops, e.g. Map 59), waterways, ports. Illustrations of cities, ships, sea monsters. Map 48 has coats of arms, mythical figures. Map 49 has erupting volcano.
