- Philipp Cluver. Hand-tinted map of Africa showing political boundaries; relief shown pictorially. In Latin. Originally published in Introductionis in universam geographicam by Philipp Cluver. In upper right hand margin; Tab : 43. Cartouche in upper right quadrant with lion couchant. Based on 17th century geographic knowledge; shows the Nile rising from twin lakes below the equator and spurious details of the interior of the continent. This map is primarily based on Willem Janszoon Blaeu's wall map of 1608 with some minor changes from Cluver's earlier maps of Africa.
