compiled from the records of the General Land Office by Robert Creutzbaur ; engraved by J. M. Atwood, New York. Relief shown by hachures. Latitudinal and longitudinal lines. Prime meridians: Greenwich (top) and Washington (bottom). Bar scale on map given in "Statute Miles." Shows topography, vegetation, county boundaries, cities and towns, colonies, German settlements, land districts, roads, trading posts, and exploration routes. Includes "Reference to land districts" and legend. Descriptive text throughout. "Entered according to Act of Congress, on the 28th day of July, 1848 by J. De Cordova, in the Clerk's Office of the United States District Court for the District of Texas." "Without my signature all copies of this map have been fraudulently obtained [signed in ink] J. De Cordova." Several signed certifications to the map's correctness at lower left, accompanied by official State of Texas seals.
