Isole famose porti, fortezze, e terre maritime sottoposte alla Ser.ma Sig.ria di Venetia ad altri principi Christiani, et al Sig. or Turco, nouame[n]te poste in luce
A collection of maps to illustrate the war in the Mediterranean between the Turkish empire and Venice, 1570-1573, comprising maps of the coasts, the principal islands of the Mediterranean, also of England, Ireland, and Iceland. Some plates engraved by Martino Rota, Domenico Zenoi and Paolo Furlani. Primarily an Isolario. Lafreri type, probably brought together and published in this form perhaps by Donato Bertelli after Camocio's death. Also, Camocio Is said by Gallo "never (to have) engraved any map". A number of the maps were issued separately earlier. Copies of this atlas vary in the number of maps. Frontispiece shows Mars & Neptune and a land and sea battle with " NB" (for Natale Bonifacio) beneath empty shield at bottom middle.
Creator:
Camocio, Giovanni Francesco, active 16th century and Bertelli, Donato, active 1558-1584
